HOW THE VOLT'S MOTORS WORK: The 2017 Chevy Volt plug-in hybrid is an extended-range electric vehicle. It features an lithium-ion battery powering two electric motors. For the first 45 or so miles, it runs solely on electricity. (There is an override for that if you want to force it to run on gas for some reason.) Once the eletric battery is depleted, the 1.5L Inline 4 gas engine takes over and runs the vehicle like any normal car. Charging is done via a standard wall outlet which comes with the vehicle or you can buy a Level 2 (240v) charger. When the gas is low you fill it like any other regular vehicle. These are great because you drive to work/school/errands using the electric charge and then re-charge at home/work/school and spend nothing on gas. Then if you are taking a longer trip it's no problem because it has the regular gas engine and runs like any other car! Listed prices do not include the state doc fee (only $200), state sales tax, new title and registration. We happily take trade-ins and we also buy vehicles outright.
